Following a concert they both headlined in Musanze, Rwandan singer The Ben appeared to take a swipe at fellow artiste Bruce Melodie, seemingly reminding him of a promise he had made during a press conference that “white is different from black”.
The Ben made the gesture through his social media accounts, posting an image on his Instagram Story showing a vast white background with a tiny black dot in the middle.The post appeared to suggest that white overwhelmingly outshines black. He later shared another image featuring a white background with a heart symbol, seemingly expressing appreciation for his supporters.
The singer also indicated that he was left frustrated by a lack of time on stage. According to The Ben, he had intended to perform several additional songs but was unable to do so because of time constraints.Among the popular tracks he said he did not get the opportunity to perform were Ndaje, Why, Folomiana, Ko Nahindutse, Lose Control, Vazi, Roho Yanjye and True Love.
The Ben and Bruce Melodie, who have long been regarded as rivals in Rwanda’s music industry, have recently joined forces for a nationwide concert tour. The pair are scheduled to stage four concerts across the country for their fans.Many music lovers view the tour as an opportunity to settle the long-running debate over which of the two artistes enjoys greater popularity among Rwandan audiences.
The concert series kicked off in Musanze on 13 June 2026 and is set to continue in Nyagatare on 20 June 2026.Fans unable to attend the shows in person have been given the option to follow the performances through the Onstage platform.
