France Mpundu has once again attracted widespread attention after performing at the closing ceremony of the second season of the Nouvelle Reine competition, where she was seen singing while heavily pregnant, yet still delivering an energetic performance.
The event took place on 6 June 2026 in Côte d’Ivoire and marked the conclusion of a competition that had run for several weeks, bringing together young women from various African countries competing for a crown that recognises beauty, talent, confidence and leadership ability.The title was won by Rose, a 32-year-old artist from Cameroon. She claimed the crown after outperforming the other finalists and walked away with a prize worth more than RWF 38 million.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was France Mpundu’s performance. Despite being in the final stages of her pregnancy, she entertained both those attending the event and viewers watching on television. Her appearance impressed many fans, who praised her determination to continue performing and pursuing her music career while preparing to welcome her child.France Mpundu and Moctar met and fell in love during the reality television programme Secret Story Afrique. The couple are currently expecting their first child together.
Moctar has also proposed to Mpundu, presenting her with an engagement ring and asking her to marry him, a proposal she accepted. However, the date of their wedding has not yet been announced.Nouvelle Reine is a competition launched by CANAL+ Afrique with the aim of promoting the talents and leadership potential of young women across Africa.
The competition brought together contestants from several African countries, who were assessed on leadership skills, public speaking, talent and community-focused projects designed to make a positive impact on society.
