The legal case involving Rwandan digital content creator Iradukunda Aimable, widely known as Yugi Umukaraza, has entered a new phase after the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) forwarded his case file to the National Public Prosecution Authority.
The case has attracted significant public attention since the arrest of the social media personality on June 23, 2026. Authorities have now confirmed that prosecutors will review two allegations against him: rape and the use of illegal drugs.
The additional drug-related allegation marks a new development in a case that has already generated widespread discussion across Rwanda’s entertainment and social media communities.
According to RIB spokesperson Dr. Thierry B. Murangira, the investigation file was officially submitted to the prosecution on June 29, 2026, following several days of investigations.
The case stems from allegations made by social media influencer Shaddyboo, who reported that an incident occurred after Yugi visited her residence on the night of June 21, 2026. She alleges that they spent the evening together drinking alcohol before she lost consciousness. Upon waking up, she believed she had been sexually assaulted without her consent.
The allegations have sparked intense debate online, with many Rwandans calling for the legal process to be allowed to proceed independently and without interference from public opinion.
With the investigation now complete, the responsibility shifts to prosecutors, who will examine the evidence collected by investigators before deciding whether the case should proceed to court.
If prosecutors determine that the available evidence is sufficient, formal charges could be filed and the matter would move before a competent court for trial. If not, they may request additional investigations or take another decision as provided by Rwandan law.
As the judicial process continues, Yugi Umukaraza remains presumed innocent unless and until a court of law finds him guilty. Likewise, the allegations made by the complainant will be assessed through the legal process, where both parties will have an opportunity to present their evidence.
The outcome of the prosecution’s review is expected to determine the next chapter in one of Rwanda’s most closely watched legal cases involving a public figure this year.
