Social media sensation Tenge Tenge, whose real name is Rango Tenge Tenge, is facing a difficult situation after his former manager, Michael Kabonge, allegedly blocked him from accessing all of his social media accounts.
The 12-year-old content creator is widely known for his expressive eyes, energetic dance moves and humorous videos. He has built a massive online following, boasting more than 4.2 million subscribers on YouTube, 9.6 million followers on Instagram and 10 million followers on TikTok.
However, tensions have reportedly arisen between Tenge Tenge’s family and Kabonge over the management of the young star’s earnings.According to Tenge Tenge’s father, the fallout stems from financial disagreements and concerns about how revenue generated from the accounts was being handled.
He claimed:”Michael Kabonge took control of all the social media accounts, insisting that they belong to him, and even attempted to change the account names.”He further revealed that several years ago, Kabonge gave the family around UGX 27 million from YouTube earnings after they had ended their working relationship due to what they described as financial irregularities.
Tenge Tenge’s father added:”At times we struggle to pay Tenge Tenge’s school fees, despite him being one of the biggest influencers in Uganda. That is why we want Michael to return the accounts so that we can appoint someone else to manage them fairly and transparently.”
In response, Michael Kabonge maintains that he personally created and developed the accounts from the beginning and therefore believes he has a legitimate claim to them.
He said:”I started everything and created the accounts myself. What hurt me most was when Tenge Tenge left me, especially considering all the plans I had for him and the fact that they wanted to take over the accounts that I built.”
Kabonge also stated that he has been sharing revenue with Tenge Tenge’s father and disclosed that they recently received up to UGX 70 million from ambassadorial and endorsement deals.The dispute between Tenge Tenge’s family and Michael Kabonge continues to attract widespread attention, particularly because the young content creator remains one of the most recognisable social media personalities in Uganda and across East Africa.
