Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has once again cemented his place in music history after becoming the African artist with the highest number of entries on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

The Grammy Award-winning singer achieved the milestone after his latest collaboration, “Dai Dai,” with Colombian global icon Shakira debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The achievement pushes Burna Boy’s total number of Hot 100 entries to nine, surpassing fellow Nigerian star Tems, who previously shared the record with him at eight entries.

The song has enjoyed growing international attention since Burna Boy and Shakira delivered a captivating performance of “Dai Dai” during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The performance introduced the track to millions of viewers worldwide and helped fuel its rapid rise across streaming platforms.

Beyond setting a new African record, Burna Boy has also become the first artist from the continent to place at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, underlining his consistency and global influence.

From chart-topping hits such as Loved By You, Last Last, Sittin’ On Top Of The World, and Talibans II to more recent releases including We Pray, WGFT, Only You, and now Dai Dai, Burna Boy continues to expand the global reach of African music.

As African artists increasingly command international attention, Burna Boy’s latest accomplishment reinforces his status as one of the continent’s most influential musical exports and a leading force in shaping the future of Afrobeats on the world stage.
