Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake has revealed that he always believed he would become a major star, saying his confidence in his future success dates back to his childhood.
The singer shared these reflections during an interview with Nigerian media personality Korty EO, where he discussed his upbringing, personal journey and rise to international fame.
Speaking about his early life, Asake explained that he was already recognised by many people while growing up in Lagos Island. He added that his popularity continued in other places he later moved to, including California in the United States.
“I knew one day I was going to be somebody. Where I was born, Lagos Island, everybody knew me. Where I moved to afterwards, even in California, everybody knew me. I’m just grateful to God,” he said.
The artist also expressed gratitude for his achievements, acknowledging the role his faith has played in his journey to success.
Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake has become one of the most recognised figures in Nigeria’s Afrobeats industry. He rose to international prominence in 2022 following the release of his debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, which helped introduce his sound to a wider global audience.
His musical journey has also included collaborations with prominent artists, particularly Nigerian rapper Olamide. Songs such as Sungba, Lonely At The Top and Remember have further strengthened his position in the international music scene.
Asake’s story reflects a journey from his early beginnings in Lagos to performing before audiences across different parts of the world. Despite his growing international profile, the singer continues to express appreciation for his roots and the opportunities that have shaped his career.
