A young man from Marsabit County is fighting for his life in a hospital following an encounter with members of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
The victim, identified as Guracha Hassan Garbole, a 20-year-old recent high school graduate, is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Nanyuki after reportedly being shot by KDF personnel.The officers were part of a unit deployed to Sololo Sub-County as part of the ongoing Ondoa Jangili security operation.
The Shooting Incident in Marsabit
According to his family, the incident happened on the evening of August 31, 2025, at Golole Trading Center in Karbururi location, Citizen TV reported.Eyewitnesses claim KDF officers stormed the area and ordered local youths to surrender. In the chaos, Guracha tried to run but was shot during the commotion.

Family members allege that after the shooting, Guracha was blindfolded and placed in a vehicle that transported him to Marsabit.Reports say he was then handed over to people identifying themselves as Kenya Red Cross staff. The individuals allegedly left him at Moyale Sub-County Hospital, placing KSh 5,000 (about $40) on his bed before disappearing.
Family in Shock and Grief
Due to a shortage of critical medication at the facility, the family was forced to transfer Guracha to Nanyuki, where he is still receiving treatment.
The ordeal has left the family devastated. His father is said to be overwhelmed with grief, with relatives describing him as emotionally broken and struggling to cope with the traumatic events surrounding his son.
