Tanzanian artist Zuhura Othman, popularly known as Zuchu, expressed deep gratitude to Yanga Sports Club after being chosen as the headline performer for their annual celebration event known as “Yanga Day.” She shared how honored she felt to become the first female Tanzanian artist to be recognized and rewarded at such a high level during the event.

Zuchu, visibly emotional and in tears of joy, performed in front of a massive crowd during the event and made history as the first woman to be given the main artist slot at Yanga Day. The event is one of the biggest and most followed sports celebrations in Tanzania.
A Journey of Emotion, Support, and Dedication
Speaking to the media after her performance, Zuchu opened up about how intense and emotional her preparation journey was. She described it as filled with tears, challenges, hard training, and strong support from her family especially her husband and mother who encouraged her every step of the way.
She shared how those closest to her helped her overcome moments of self-doubt and gave her the confidence to deliver her best. Her family allowed her the space and time to focus entirely on her performance, which helped her give her all on stage.
Zuchu also took time to thank her team of musicians, dancers, sound engineers, and everyone involved in organizing the stunning stage setup that made the event so special. She said that the success of the show came from teamwork and shared vision among everyone involved, including collaborations with media houses.
After stepping off the stage, Zuchu said she was overwhelmed with emotion not from sadness, but from deep appreciation. She recalled how they had very limited time for rehearsals on the day of the show. Her team stayed at the stadium until late at night, working tirelessly to make sure everything went smoothly. She expressed heartfelt thanks to every single person who played a role.
A Milestone for Women in Tanzanian Music
In a surprise revelation, Zuchu shared that she was paid more than any other artist who has ever performed at Yanga Day, which she saw as a major milestone not just for her career, but for the recognition of female artists in Tanzania. She called it a big step forward for women in the music industry.
Having previously made history as the first female headliner at CHAN (African Nations Championship), Zuchu continues to break barriers and inspire. She encouraged young women and girls with dreams of entering the music industry to stay strong and never give up, no matter the challenges. Sources: Tuuko News and K24News
