Nigerian singer Chike has once again sparked heated debates on social media after unexpectedly declaring that he considers marriage to be one of the most foolish decisions anyone can make in life.
Chike Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, made the controversial remarks when asked about when he plans to settle down and get married. He shared his views during an interview with journalist Chude Jideonwo on the podcast WithChude, where he said: “Marriage is a step filled with a lot of foolishness that’s how I see it.” He further revealed that he has never desired marriage and has never given it any consideration in his life.
Although best known for his love songs with romantic lyrics, Chike explained that his happiness comes from financial stability rather than being in a relationship. He said: “For me to truly be happy, I need to have a lot of money. I don’t want to be begging or starving. I love money, and I desire it greatly.”
The 32-year-old singer also recalled that music wasn’t his original career plan. He only started considering it seriously after graduating from university. He said: “I realized music would be a way to earn a living after finishing school. Before then, I only sang occasionally, sometimes even disturbing people I lived with, but I never thought much about it.”Chike revealed that in the early stages of his career, he faced extreme financial struggles, to the point that he even acted in movies just to survive.
“I had to take up acting for about two years just to put food on the table,” he said.In 2022, Chike also made headlines with another surprising confession, admitting that he has never used the words “I love you” to any woman in his life because saying it makes him uncomfortable.
Chike began his professional music career in 2015 after winning Project Fame and later finishing as runner-up in The Voice Nigeria in 2016, which led to the release of his debut single Fancy.source Umunsi.com
