GCB Bank leads efforts to facilitate direct payments to TikTok creators, fostering growth in Ghana’s digital content ecosystem.

A team from GCB Bank, led by Chief of Staff Mr. Abraham Ferguson, met with the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), to discuss a potential collaboration aimed at creating a comprehensive payment framework for Ghanaian content creators on TikTok. During the meeting, GCB Bank highlighted its technological readiness and extensive infrastructure to support the creative economy.

Multi-Channel Payment Capabilities

The team also demonstrated GCB’s ability to facilitate payouts through multiple channels, including MoMo and direct bank accounts.

Collaboration with TikTok and Government Support


Hon. Samuel Nartey George actively supported GCB Bank’s proposal, engaging directly with Ms. Tokumbo Ibrahim, TikTok’s representative for West Africa. He emphasized that using GCB Bank as an official payment channel would not only provide a reliable system for content creators but also eliminate the need for third-party services, reducing fees and ensuring greater financial benefits for Ghanaian talent.

The discussions concluded with a commitment from Ms. Tokumbo (TikTok) to review the feasibility of the proposed solution. Mr. Ferguson expressed optimism about the outcome, stating that GCB Bank looks forward to a positive response, which would immediately set in motion steps to establish a direct connection between the bank and TikTok.
